The Norwegians are upset that a lot of Swedish composers and lyricists have "invaded" the Norwegian Grand Prix. Eurovision Song Contest in general is very international today, meaning that the artist representing the country can be of a different citizenship or not even live in the country - Switzerland in particular have put it into system. Last year they were represented by an Estonian girl rock band, and this year I think it is a combined band of people from a handful countries, including Sweden. From a competitive point of view, it may be a smart thing to do, if it means they are more likely to get good scores from the handful of countries these artists come from.

I haven't been looking for any sound clips from the other countries yet, but I've seen pictures of a few of the competitors. Spain up themselves by one, and instead of sending a group of Las Ketchup wannabee women, they're sending Las Ketchup themselves. Finland have some kind of rockers that make Wig Wam from Norway look like your average schlager artists. Turkey has a (fake?) blond girl, looking not entirely unlike Gwen Stefani but maybe with more cleavage.

I don't know what it is about Sweden's relationship to the Eurovision. It's crazy. Almost worse than in England. The hysteria around tonight's show is almost bigger than last year's actual Eurovision final.

My bet is on Björn Kjellman. He doesn't sing very well but I can see all these old ladies across the country voting for him because he's so charming.

That's scary. A schalger-gene. I think you're right though. It's equally bad in Norway.
