Lee is learning Arabic and is all excited about it. That is so cool! I have been thinking about learning Persian for quite some time but maby Arabic is better. Understanding the news from Al-Jazeera would be really, really cool!
that's a challenge!

Vad hŠnde med dina finska-planer dŒ? :-)
Jag har inte lagt finskaplanerna pΠhyllan heller!
Steffanie - I have no idea what the two of you were discussing up there (regularly a problem on your blog, although it's understandable...maybe I should learn Swedish next. Although I am technically planning on Chinese.)
Still, as to you and your urge to learn Persian (or Arabic if you decide to go with it), all I can say is GO FOR IT. I think the alphabets of the two languages are very similar, and I would be willing to bet that grammar and phonetics are as well. Arabic is crazy difficult (especially the phonetics of the language because the sounds are all seem so different and arbitrary, although I have less trouble than the Francophones in my class), and I am probably working harder for this class than I have ever worked for a class in my entire life, but the hard work is reeping visible (and audible) rewards. I feel very lucky to have found a gifted and patient teacher, and a supportive group of classmates, too. But I say to you, give it a whirl. The worst that can happen is you hate it.
Anyway...I've had too much coffee.
